Although Sushi Goda is still in a “soft opening,” this new addition to the Upper East Side dining scene has been highly reviewed by patrons. It’s an uptown Nobu of sorts — definitely a contender to be one of the top sushi restaurants on the East Side. The vibe is chic; moodily lit, the restaurant has a bar both in front and in back, cozy booths and small tables throughout. Goda has not been popularly reviewed yet; but anecdotally, customers who have dined there universally rave about it. Even the rock shrimp tempura on the appetizer menu is a subtle nod to Nobu.
Here’s what customers have to say (from Yelp):
- Elaine Z.- gave it five stars: The price was really worth it. I think it was 65 dollars for … a 10 piece Omakase.
- Beth F.- Best Omakase for the price. Highly recommend checking it out.
- Adel W.- 4 stars. Overall a delicious meal with very fresh fish and some standout bites!
On a recent visit with a friend, we started the meal with lightly blistered and sauteed shishito peppers, a few of the house special rolls and individual pieces of sushi. The sushi chef took great pride in preparing our meal and pointed out the freshness of the fish, its unique toppings and paired sauces. Artfully presented, each course had the telltale hallmark of a top sushi restaurants: they were served on minimal rice and without the typical deluge of soy sauce and wasabi.
Run don’t walk to try this great new dining option on the Upper East Side!
