MEET KAREN
My fascination with fashion hit early—I was 4 or 5 years old. When I wasn’t sketching in the style of fashion illustrations from Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, I cut out huge diamond jewelry (usually by Harry Winston) pictured in the New York Times, and “shellacked them” with Elmer’s glue into wearable art.
Day one of kindergarten was a day I will never forget. Actually, I don’t remember anything except the outfit I wore from head to toe. Of course, my high fashion mom, who loved Courreges and Missoni, and my very dapper Dad were avid influences on my own personal style. Most of my childhood memories exist in color and 3D.
After my junior year at Brown, I was chosen to be one of two interns at WWD and W Magazine. The internship concluded with a spectacular shoot on Shelter Island with world-famous models. The Editor-In-Chief then asked me to write a series for W Magazine that fall on Ivy League Fashion and based on those, I was offered a job as an editor post-graduation.
I began that following June–in charge of reviewing collections of designers including Marc Jacobs and Tom Ford to name a few. Whether shooting at Halston’s compound in Montauk, or photographing Iman wearing an Oscar De La Renta`ball gown running past a dilapidated barn, I learned there was a science to creating compelling images.

Thanks for stopping by to gain access to my secret sources, culled from decades of experience whether it be styling fashion shoots, doing interior and clothing makeovers, or adding just the right jewelry or accessories to effect the ultimate transformation. Why trust me? My work has been recognized in Town & Country, Elle Magazine, W Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Forbes FYI, and Sports Illustrated.
Minimalism. Exaggeration. Juxtaposition. These are the three main tenets of image-evolution. I became a true believer. In regard to beauty, I worked with two of the industry’s most brilliant image makers, Oribe and Frederic Fekkai. I witnessed these savants redefining images in a way that actively impacts celebrities and the rest of us today.
After careers in marketing and jewelry design, I decided to focus on residential real estate – combining my previous talents as an aesthetic consultant and trusted confidant in this new arena. My ability to see a more evolved aesthetic vision of people and the way they live and bring that vision to life has brought me and my clients tremendous satisfaction.
Why am I telling you all of this? After years of being asked how I created or developed looks –I want to share my ever-evolving black book, the inside scoop on my DIY projects, and the constant tweaks and resources I use.
Let’s enrich our visual and spiritual lives together, one step at a time. Today my “set” is Manhattan’s Upper East Side. This is an official invitation to join me on my journey let’s begin the adventure!
Be memorable if nothing else!!!!
Yours truly,
KB
